The Big Quibble I have with Windows Vista at this point is over the *lack* of support in the December and February CTPs for the AIW series (in particular the AIW 9700 and above) for other than graphics (either VIVO or TV tuner support). Both the drivers included with the CTPs and ATI's alternative drivers support neither VIVO functionality or TV tuner functionality. Installing the current Windows XP drivers in Windows Vista is a nonstarter as the WDM drivers do not fully engage (I suspect due to WDM driver changes in Vista compared to XP); worse, all attempts to upgrade install the core graphics driver (which brings back Aero Glass, but kills VIVO and TV tuner support). A large number of us current AIW owners would like to upgrade to Windows Vista; however, without support of *all* of our card's existing functionality, we will not be able (or willing) to do so, and will doubtless largely stick with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (which does support full functionality). My plea is not to Microsoft, but to ATI; please, don't abandon us!

Aw, c'mon! These aren't even Beta quality versions yet! ATI will have a full range of drivers available when Vista is stabilized although you'll have to get one of the upper levels of Vista to use TV, etc. No one has abandoned us.

Mister Lake, in case you have not noticed, the builds that are being sent to testers are all based on Ultimate Edition (which will primarily replace both TabletPC Edition and Media Center Edition), as a separate Media Center version of Vista will not be shipping. Also, for many years, the All-In-Wonder series has been considered the *flagship* of the Built By ATI lineup. Thirdly, no less than *three* new All-In-Wonder models have been released in just the past three months alone (including a new AGP All-In-Wonder, which was not expected). Fourth, ATI's Theater 550 Pro TV tuner-only cards, and even the ATI HDTV Wonder *are* detected and have drivers available for Vista 5270/5308. And lastly, and certainly not leastly, it is certainly Rather Difficult to test the TV functionality of Media Center's TV application without TV tuner support, and as *analog* TV support, at minimum, is a base requirement, without AIW support, most of us (including me) who wish to test that functionality are unable to do so. In fact, TV functionality is one of the two functions of Vista Media Center I have been unable to test at all. Those of us that are proud ATI All-In-Wonder owners and Vista testers are primarily testing/evaluating Vista (especially Ultimate Edition) in terms of an upgrade from Media Center Edition 2005. Until ATI's driver support in Vista matches that of Media Center Edition 2005, such a comparison is, of course, an exercise in futility. This is actually the first version of Windows since NT Workstation/Server 4.x to lack All-In-Wonder support from the beginning. Given that Windows Vista is planned to ship by the end of the year, that gives ATI no more than six months to have drivers ready for final *polish* testing during the Release Candidate (RC) cycle. I did NOT expect drivers for All-In-Wonders to be available during 5270; however, I *did* expect such drivers to arrive as part of the feature-complete 5308 (simply because ATI is running low on time). ATI needs *time* to deliver quality drivers for Windows Vista, and delays in driver release *reduce* time available for driver testing (especially given a completely different driver model).

Keep your shirt on. Drivers will be trickling in over a period of time. XP drivers weren't available during the early testing phase either and only rudimentary drivers were included with the beta versions of XP.

We happen to agree as our primary focus is on MCE, also. Of course, we would like to see ATI make the OCUR interfaces available early, too <g>.

While XP drivers weren't available, Windows 2000 drivers (which were available) did work. I was a Windows XP beta tester, and owned *two* AIWs during the test period (first, an All-In-Wonder 128, then an All-In-Wonder Radeon), both of which worked swimmingly (I upgraded for performance reasons, not lack of driver support).

I totally agree with you. No excuse for ATI not having beta drivers out for the All-In-Wonders yet. Especially since I can go to this page http://www.ati.com/technology/windowsvista/ and it tells me that my All-in-WonderŽ X1800 Series supports Vista! Makes it real hard to stay an ATI supporter....

The video card does support Vista. It is the tuner that is not supported. Vista has WDM drivers, but for now you will need a third party app to use the tuner. With Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, the tuner is also not supported, but you can use Nero 7 and record from the tuner, as long as the x64 WDM drivers are installed from the ATI website. I have WinXP Pro x64, and record from the tuner using Nero. There must be a workaround available for the CTP....
